Why should herbs not be fed for longer than 6 weeks?

Herbs are usually used to support your horse for a specific purpose, to prevent something, or during illness. The herbs achieve their full potential within 6 weeks. The herbs have their strongest targeted effect during this period. It is generally not recommended to feed them for longer because the purpose of the herbs should have been achieved, and the body should be self-sufficient again.

In some cases, it may be necessary to extend the duration to a maximum of 12 weeks and adjust the dosage accordingly. After that, the body should function on its own. The only time long-term feeding is considered is when the horse has a chronic problem. If a horse has a chronic issue, it is sometimes recommended to feed it continuously at a half dose to provide constant support to the stressed organ, but this is an individual adjustment made in certain cases.

You can also give 6 weeks, take a break for a couple of weeks, and then give another course. If herbs are given continuously, they should be varied over time. It is not recommended to feed the same herb for an extended period, as the positive effect may fade.
