Why shouldn't you feed herbs for more than 6 weeks?

Herbs are typically used to support your horse for a specific purpose, to prevent something, or during illness. Herbs achieve their full potential within 6 weeks. During this period, herbs have their strongest directed effect. It is generally not recommended to feed herbs for longer, as the goal of using the herbs should be accomplished, and the body should function independently again.

In some cases, it may be necessary to extend the duration to a maximum of 12 weeks, adjusting the dosage accordingly. After that, the body is meant to function on its own. The only time long-term feeding might be necessary is when the horse has a chronic issue. If a horse has a chronic problem, sometimes it is recommended to feed it continuously in half doses to provide consistent support to the stressed organ, but this should be an individual adjustment made in some cases.

You can also give 6 weeks, take a break for a couple of weeks, and then administer another course. If herbs are given continuously, they should be rotated over time. It is not recommended to feed the same herb for an extended period, as the positive effects may be lost.
