Why should herbs not be fed for longer than 6 weeks?

Herbs are typically used to support your horse for a specific purpose, to prevent something, or during illness. The herbs reach their full potential within 6 weeks. They have the strongest targeted effect during this period. It is not recommended to feed herbs for longer, as the purpose of the herbs should have been achieved, and the body should function independently again.

In some cases, it may be necessary to extend the period to a maximum of 12 weeks and adjust the dosage accordingly. After this, the body is expected to function on its own. The only situation where long-term feeding might be required is when the horse has a chronic issue. If a horse has a chronic problem, it is sometimes recommended to feed continuously at half the dose to provide constant support to the stressed organ, but this is an individualized approach used in some cases.

You can also feed for 6 weeks, then take a break for a couple of weeks, and then give another course. If herbs are fed continuously, they should be varied over time. It is not recommended to feed the same herb for an extended period, as the positive effect may diminish.
